Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
