Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.

American entertainer Finn, who featured in iconic television series such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to media reports.

"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives stated in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".

An Extensive TV Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"He guided, supported, and advised countless students during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.

The actor is leaves behind his partner Donna, his three kids, and his family.
