Tournament officials of the year's first Grand Slam have revealed the Seven-Figure Quick-Fire Competition, which will pair 10 amateur players against top-ranked players in a elimination competition at Melbourne Park

How the Competition Operates

Players will play 'the decision-making game' to decide who gets to serve or return, and the competitor securing the point will move forward to the subsequent phase

The victor of the event will take home £490,000

Contextually, players who made it to the semi-finals of the primary tournaments in the last edition won substantial prize money

Participation Details

Any Australians - or foreign participants who have registered with the national federation - can compete in 'One Point Slam' events at their neighborhood facilities

The winners of the grassroots tournaments will then go into a random pairing, with a single non-professional from every region and area picked to compete in the 'final competition' in a night session on the specified date

There will also be a qualifying draw in December which everyday players, aspiring competitors, celebrities and sport stars can enter

It begins on early January and the successful competitors will go into the following day's 'grand finale' with the remaining non-professionals and elite competitors

"Regardless of your skill level, the final champion will receive the reward. Applications will begin shortly at venues nationwide"

Competition planners stated there were "further celebrities to be revealed shortly", while the tournament site mentioned "well-known figures" would be involved
